The Creatures We Forge is a collection of poetry and short fiction. Each theme is represented through various imagined creatures. As a writer, it is not uncommon to draw from other sources of fiction and the people who shape our lives to inspire creative works. The human experience is a complex journey marked by emotions of grief, loss, love, rebirth, as well as unique perspectives, beliefs, and cultural practices. It is a journey that includes moments of connection, and those who we choose to be with can significantly influence how we perceive the world.
Each of the poems and stories that you will find in this collection explore the high and low tides of interpersonal relationships. How we choose to respond to these scenarios ultimately forges the way we see ourselves as a person. The creatures in these works symbolize some of the biggest questions I have faced on a daily basis such as: how do I overcome self-doubt, what virtues should I live by, or what defines my happiness?
